Mad Monday Stretch Positions

Mad Monday Stretch Positions

Generally speaking, dancers should stretch in those positions they wish to achieve in the center. In other words, working  a turned-in split is not going to be very productive for the line in a grand jeté. This stretching rule isn’t exclusively true, but most of the time it is a good rule of thumb.

Overstretching has been in the dance community news quite a bit lately, as overachieving dancers have begun pushing the limits of good sense. Too much of anything isn’t good, and too much stretch, or too much stretch in the wrong positions is just as bad as too little.Without working for an equal amount of strength with their stretch, dancers can become noodles: too loose to control their movements effectively.
