Mad Monday Constant

Mad Monday Constant

We all know that turn-out is the hallmark of ballet. It is fussed over, forced (gasp!), lamented, and hopefully, safely achieved and developed.

One important point is this: turn-out is constant. It doesn’t wink in and out like a shaky electrical connection. As long as the dancer is dancing, turn-out is constant, like a rotating CD or record. Never stopping, ever moving.

Imagine “turning on the turn-out” when the dancing starts and don’t turn it off until the dancing is finished.

From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets:
Ballet Secret #3w:
“Turn-out is constant, like a rotating CD  or record.”

“Enthusiasm is the electricity of life. How do you get it? You act enthusiastic until you make it a habit.”
