Wacky Wednesday A Little Bit Extra

Wacky Wednesday A Little Bit Extra

One of the biggest issues in rond de jambe is the turn-out of the leg in derrière. There is always a tendency for this knee (of the working leg) to drop down (caused by a lack of rotation in the hip socket).

This doesn’t usually happen in other directions, probably because dancers are more aware of what their working leg is doing in devant and à la seconde. Or, it is because it is just more difficult to maintain the rotation and the alignment of the pelvis in derrière.

The solution is simple. Always add a little bit of extra rotation to the working leg when it is in, or passing through the derrière position.
