Mad Monday Sand
There are several Ballet
Secrets that involve keeping the foot in contact with the floor during a
tendu. Here are three:
-Ballet Secret 4a: A tendu never leaves the
floor. Otherwise it is not a tendu.”
- Ballet Secret 4d: A
tendu should “slurp” along the floor like licking an ice cream cone.
- Ballet Secret 4o: Imagine standing on a
magnetic floor and wearing metal shoes.
Today I present another one. If the floor were covered with
sand (see today’s video link), you should be able to hear the tendu as it moves in and out, and hear it clearly. If the
foot fails to contact the floor, the sound will be faint or non-existent. The
teacher could know whether the student’s tendues are correct without looking!
