Wacky Wednesday Flames

Wacky Wednesday Flames

The feet should be fully pointed in the air whenever you jump. Dancers know this, but it can be difficult to achieve. Often the ankles stretch, but the energy never makes it all the way down to the toes. Scary.

Imagine that each toe has a trap door at the tip, and when the feet are fully stretched, flames shoot out! This is like the rocket booster on a spacecraft, giving an extra oooomph to the height of the jump. These flames help propel the dancer into space.

Rocket Boosters!

From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets:

Ballet Secret #15ll:
Imagine flames shooting from the tips of your toes when you jump.
