Which Dog?

Which Dog?
The other day I ran across an interesting motivational idea.  It comes from part of the training program for the Navy SEALs, but it would work equally well for dancers who usually need as much positive mind training as they can get.  Dancers, for some reason, seem to focus on the negative side of things too much of the time.
So, to prevent this negative state of mind ask one simple question:  Which dog are you feeding?  Is it Fear Dog or Courage Dog?  Remember the more a dog eats, the stronger it becomes, so avoid feeding the Fear Dog at all costs.  Instead, tell yourself that you are only going to feed the Courage Dog.
Do this whenever the Fear Dog jumps on you.

From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets:

Motivational Secret #14
“Are you feeding the Fear Dog or the Courage Dog?”
